Davina Tiwari MSW, RSW, CSFT
Registered Social Worker
Certified Solution Focused Therapist
Welcome! I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I am also registered as a Certified Solution Focused Therapist (CSFT) with the Canadian Council of Professional Certification (CCPC) Global Inc.
I have an Honours Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree. Since 2009, I have worked in community service and health care settings, with the majority of my experience gained at pediatric and adult rehabilitation hospitals in inpatient and outpatient Social Work roles.
My early experience focused on supporting parents of children with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. Later in my career, I have supported adults affected by physical disabilities, specializing in spinal cord injuries.
In my different roles, I have offered patient and family education on a range of topics, including financial resources, community and social service resources, home care services, emotional adjustment after a new disability, and discharge planning for the transition from hospital to home or another supportive living setting.
In addition to my core services supporting adults and families affected by disability and chronic illness, I also provide counselling to adults who are struggling with the following issues: anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, relationship issues, stress, burnout, major life transitions, and health care navigation. I am a registered provider with WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) for clients accessing workplace injury insurance benefits.
My perspective is that my clients have the inner strength, resilience, and ability to make meaningful changes in their lives to achieve their goals and live as independently as possible.
Offering a non-judgmental, client-centred, compassionate, supportive, and solution-focused space is important to me in order to help clients cope with their challenges, identify their options, create a plan, problem-solve around barriers, and realize their full potential.
